Parks Library Student Learning Hub

$26 million over 2 years

The University Library has been a central part of campus and the student experience throughout Iowa State’s history, and remains so today. In-person library use has increased steadily over the last decade, more than doubling since 2006. On an average school day, more than 15,000 people use the library.

Parks Library is focused on student success. Students come here for the collaborative group work and study spaces, print and online resources, workshops, research assistance, unique and special collections, and 24/7 access during critical times in the semester. In Parks Library students also can find assistance and support from the IT Solution Center, Academic Success Center tutors, and Writing and Media Center support services.

Parks Library is becoming a one-stop shop for ISU student’s academic success; that’s why Iowa State’s request for $26,072,376 to complete the next phases of the Parks Library renovation is so important. The renovation will add study seats, increase the number of collaboration/study rooms from 8 to 30, and enable ISU to meet the increased demand for study and research space, technology, and updated facilities. Currently in Parks Library there is seating for 2,300 students. With renovation to the second and third floors seating will increase to approximately 3,000 seats for individual study and group work – a 30 percent increase.
